“Terre d'Hermes. Been wearing it for over a decade and it checks all my boxes: Citrus, woods, vetiver, patchouli, oakmoss, cedar. Translucent but with body, not too heavy or thick, bone dry but still deep and warm. Interesting but never overbearing. Outdoorsy but elegant. Mature but not stuffy or dated. Sexy but not trying too hard to be. It's perfect.”

“I used to be very into Terre d'Hermès Très Fraiche (RIP) and Terre d'Hermès Eau Givrée but I really really love H24, I think it's so different. Eau de Citron Noir and Eau de Basilic Pourpre are also so good and different.”

“Hermes barenia. In particular i like barenia pleine fleur. OG barenia is less floral. Terre d'Hermes is also great. I have the EDP intense version and it smells like traditional chinese medicine on the dry down. Very earthy. Have you tried the other EA flankers? Gris charnel is warm woody spicy. Im sure there are a ton of other similar scents. Cedrus/cedrus intense by chloe is a fresh woody scent, not warm.”

“Best is so subjective. Do you like sugar bomb gourmands? Woody scents? Fruity unisex fragrances? Relatively inexpensive all-season all-occasion fragrances in my collection that I like: Bulgari Terrae Essence; Lalique Equus; Lalique Encre Noire Sport; Terre d'Hermes (or Sapil Legend as a cheaper, 98% identical clone) and my favorite in this category, Lalique Encre Indigo. But my taste is for dry,  woody / earthy / vetiver-heavy fragrances”

“So true. My bottles have gone through 4 moves to 3 different states... from super humid to now extremely arid. I have a vintage bottle of Terre D'Hermes with real oakmoss and it's a 12 hour masterpiece. It's gotten better. I recently smelled the newest reformulation and it's a shadow of its former self.”

4/5 Winter

“TDH was another super popular one with a cult following that I tried and disappointingly just is simply not for me. I wanna get a decant of Issey Sel and test drive it a bit. To me a good freshie is harder to find vs cold weather scents. Blue Talisman actually knocked my socks off from the first smell. Getting the Montagne dupe in the mail since the OG is too pricey for me, hoping it's good 🤞”

1/5 Mass appeal

“Is TDH really mass appealing? I've heard it can be challenging due to the metallic note. I tried TDH EDP Intense and wanted to scrub my skin off. That said, I'd still be willing to try the EDT before making any judgement, I know it's a timeless classic.”

“Vetiver Royale from Muzna. Hands down one of the best vetiver frags I've tried, it's a deep and rich vetiver not as dark as Fattan nor as airy as TDH”

“TdH edt would be my daily if I worked in a more professional setting. Feels strange to dress it down to me, so Eau Givree gets a lot more use. And it's by far the cheapest on the list, so less regret when that bottle level drops. I think the TdH line might be the best value in fragrance.”

“I feel you! The jardin scents are light and not particularly imaginative in my opinion. I had 15 ml vials of four them created by Jean-Claude Ellena. But I sold them all as a package. I have almost parted company with Hermes. I still have Twilly and Terre d'Hermes, but everything else is gone. Twilly is a good performer, but it is not a fancy fragrance. By the way, I love Jean-Claude Ellena as a writer.”

“TDH eau givree is one of my fav summer scents (I own) and I tried Hawas Black (in a shop). Both are nice perfumes that I appreciate, I would say TDH is more fresh and citrusy Hawas is more classic and professional. Me being a citrus lover I prefer TDH but both are great ngl and Hawas projects/ stays more”

“I was leaning toward Hermes initially but the more I thought about it, I think I'd go with Prada. They have a lot of choice and I enjoy almost everything I've tried from them. While TdH will probably always be the first thing I reach for, if I had to limit myself to one house for eternity, I think I'd be happier with Prada.”

“I mean, you do you, but even some of the best signature fragrances out there can get cloying once you go above 25°C. TdH is my signature and I can wear it on very hot days without a problem, but I recently got a decant of Eau Givrée and the difference when you wear a fragrance that's actually made for extreme heat is night and day. It actually brought me comfort in the heat as opposed to just making me feel like I smelled good.”

“MYSLF and TDH are my favorites of them all. The TDH flankers cover every season just by themselves. I really like nuit. I have actually thought about that, except I would want to keep the entire TDH line. You've given me a lot to think about”
