Fragrance Longevity Explained
Longevity is how long you can still smell a fragrance on yourself after spraying. It depends on the composition (heavier base notes such as woods, resins and vanilla tend to linger; bright citrus top notes fade first), the concentration, how much you apply, your skin, and the weather.
What owners report
Across the fragrances we track, Reddit owners wrote 224 comments saying a fragrance lasts well (all day, 8+ hours, survives a shower) and 165 saying it fades fast (gone in an hour, poor longevity). Owners also describe "nose blindness": you stop smelling a scent you wear often while people around you still notice it.
Rules of thumb
- Spray on skin and clothes if you want it to last longer; fabric tends to hold scent.
- Moisturised skin can hold fragrance longer than dry skin.
- An EDP is not automatically longer-lasting than the EDT of the same name; check owner reports for the exact version.
