What Reddit owners say
4/5 Office“The other girl says sometimes I smell like "agarbatti dipped in soap" whenever I wear ADG”
5/5 Batches & reformulation“Once I smelled a guy at the supermarket and asked him what he was wearing and all he said was Acqua Di Gio. I have no idea which one, but he smelled like flowers. I own a few ADG fragrances (classic EDT before recent reformulations, Profumo, and a decant of Essenza, which is now discontinued), and I've smelled many of the ADG flankers too, and I can't say that I smelled any of them as nice as the one he was allegedly wearing Once I smelled an older woman and asked what she was wearing and she said Chanel Mademoiselle. And my goodness that is an amazing scent on a woman”
5/5“I love this fragrance so much! Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud considers this (and Acqua di Gio) his most successful and defining work. And now the guy makes fragrances for LV. I used to own this bottle years ago. This must be a sign to get another one. 😆”
5/5 UniqueValue“Based on your current uses, maybe try out I Will by Armani (new release, pretty good vanilla fragrance with some spice), Teriaq Intense by Lattafa (on the cheaper side, luxurious smell for its price, and incredibly performance), Acqua di Gi”
3/5 SweetnessFresh & clean“And I love aquatic scents and I absolutely adored the original Acqua Di Gio.”

5/5 Batches & reformulation“I love Acqua di Gio, as well. It was my first real Cologne. I remember smelling it for the first time unlocked something in my brain. Like many fragrances, the EdT has been nerfed over the years from several reformulations. I've tried hundreds of fragrances over the last year, and sadly, the only thing that even comes close to capturing the magic of the original is actually the Profondo flanker. The EdP is close, as well, but it's a bit denser and lacks the airiness of the original.”
4/5 Unique“It was Ganymede for me! I've had different colognes and scents since high school, but nothing fancy really. Mostly stuff you'd get anywhere, or that folks seem to really enjoy these days (ADG, Light Blue, Polo, etc). Then I went to a niche fragrance store with a friend earlier this year and smelled Ganymede and my brain lit up in fireworks. Now I've got like 20+ bottles of things 😅”
4/5“Which ADG do you have? I have the 2024 EDT and I get a solid 6-8 hours with 4-5 sprays.”
4/5 Fresh & clean“This is exactly why I love it. Its damn hard to distinguish this, from a fresh shower w standard blue-ass gel. I dont want to stand out, though always want to smell fresh/clean. Its overtly masculine, striaght up clean smelling - though admittedly boring, which lends directly to its' non-offensive nature! The "standard approach" is what makes it work for me. (My brief-boringness rundown; I wore about 8yrs of Estee Lauder Pleasures / men...Then about 5yrs of Acqua Di Gio...And just finished nearly 10yrs w Insurrection Pure II)”
4/5 Fall“I purchased a adg for my father.”
5/5“At Dillard's, I was perusing a bit and the Fragrance lady put me onto some Acqua di Gio Parfum, which I do not currently own.”
5/5 LongevityUnique“Yeah many Acqua di Gio's are a combination of causing noseblindness quickly and not being known as having tge longest longevity on the market.”
4/5 Fresh & cleanValue“Drakkar noir blue...minty fresh blue lavender $25 for 100ml and bergamot intense by Jean Irish $16.99 at your local discounters o and iconic blend by penguin ADG profundo vibes with some slight syrupy incense that makes it delicious Banana ”
3/5 Fresh & cleanHeadaches“Sure, ADG parfum has got to be one of those perfumes which I didn't understand at all initially when I tried it.”
2/5 Unique“I have one called Almas Tragedy, and it's kind of in between scents like ADG and Megamare There are a ton of different notes for it listed on different sites, and they are all mostly wrong. Imagine a salty marine scent like Megamare/Atlas, but with the salt scaled back a bit, then a very light amount of citrus/floral. It's barely detectable, but just enough to freshen it up a bit. I was actually disappointed with it at first, because I was hoping the citrus and floral were stronger, but now I've come to appreciate it. And like Megamare, it lasts quite a while.”
2/5 Projection“Out of those two, I'd suggest ADG Parfum, but the performance of that has never been very strong on my skin. Mild projection in the first hour and then a skin scent for 4-5 more hours max.”
1/5“I used profondo and it was the worst fragrance I ever had. 40 minutes and its gone id skip ADG except maybe profumo”
5/5“Same. Acqua di Gio Pour Homme back in 2011/2012. First smelled it on a magazine scratcher. Fantastic stuff. Too bad they MASSACRED my boy. I've got a vintage bottle on the way. Fingers crossed it lives up to my hyped memories 🤞🏻”
4/5 SummerWinter“That said try both, if you're coming into summer now I'd suggest also having a look at a decant of Pacific Chill, Castley or ADG. If going into winter I haven't got strong suggestions, still trying to find an ultimate daily personally, but if you like vanilla then Vanilla Powder Extrait has been quite nice (only need a little and it lasts well), Castley and ADG can get by.”
5/5 Summer“Technically I got gifted some Ed Hardy shit when I was like 15, but I only used it twice because it sucked. Acqua di Gio Pour Homme was my first real fragrance back in 2011/2012. Some of the best juice ever squeezed. Don't use the EdT anymore due to it being a shadow of its former self, but I daily the Profondo EdP pretty regularly. Been swimming through my bottle this summer.”
2/5 Everyday“I bought Elixer from Ulta and subsequently returned it. I'm not a big fan of Profondo, either. However, I do have a large bottle of ADG EDT and a bottle of ADG parfum. The EDT is my daily wear.”
5/5 Formal“Tuxedo is what I wore to my wedding, so that one is the most sentimental to me, plus it just smells fantastic. My faves really depend on the time of year I wear them, but I think ADG Parfum is one I could grab anytime, any day. I used to own Profumo, so this fills that gap.”
4/5 Fresh & clean“I'm wearing the Rosie by Rosie Jane lotion paired with Acqua di Gio. It smells so nice and clean”
4/5 Projection“I also got ADG Parfum, you want to look for the 2024 version (comes in the 50 & 100ml) I also have Raees Luxury, it lasts but it doesn't project all that great. I've used Raees Luxury as a base layer and then sprayed the ADG Parfum 2024 to preserve the OG”
5/5 Value“I too want the answer to this. I have a shaving soap and aftershave by saponificio Varesino. called 70th anniversary. which is meant to be based on ADG. but to me it's not the same. it's more aquatic, savoury, salty and mineral-y. somehow even fresher. it comes in an edp. but it's not cheap, amd reviews are very sparse. I'd love an alternative”
5/5 Formal“I started ADG when I was in my 20s 2 decades ago. After college I didn't wear any cologne unless for special occasions, and even then I just wore whatever a friend or my dad had on them. I purchased ADG Profondo edp and ADG Parfum, and soon after grabbed a bottle of BDC edp. As much as I love these, I feel like they don't last longer than 4 hours on me.”
4/5“SOTD - Bentley Silverlake EDP Great Giorgio Armani Acqua di Gio Essenza inspiration. Immediate minty citrus like the ADG Essenza dna before shifting to a spicy green aquatic; this wear I can pick up the violet a bit more so it continues to develop. It ends as a musky, almost incensy amberwood.”
3/5 Sweetness“I don't care for the other ADG's but the original edt has been fantastic. I tried a few Acqua di parma but it seems I keep striking out. I recently tried buongiorno and found it to be wayyy too sweet and cloying. Is there a particular adp you'd recommend?”
2/5“I have a 2009 bottle of The One EDT that I use sparingly as everyone seems to say how weak that cologne is but it's nuclear for me. Also have a half bottle of Acqua Di Gio from the same time period.”
4/5 Batches & reformulation“ADG had some great blends over the years, specifically the og Profumo , but a lot got reformulated and I gave up chasing the better blends! I don't think I have tried the elixir I shall get a decant!”
3/5 SweetnessSummer“I actually really like the ADG EDT you have. It's better for very hot and humid days. The EDP can be a bit too sweet. One hot day I wore the EDP and it was too much lol 😝 I'd say have both 👌🏼”
3/5 Longevity“In my opinion ADG is the biggest gap between amazing smell and poor performance - and I hate that. There are other products in the ADG line that may have better performance, but like you I haven't used them.”
4/5“You better take good care of that gem. I have the 2024 AdG Parfum. It's very close, but it's missing something that makes Profumo special.”
2/5“Sometimes I spray ADG & Eros EDT on my tongue cuz I forget from last time they taste not as good as they smell necessarily. So I get what you're saying 100%”
5/5“She loves Asad elixer on me , and black diamond incense,, adg Parfum among some others . Haltanes a banger !”
4/5“4!? That's crazy bro, you were really going nuclear ☢️😹 Ah man ADG. I still have the Profumo that got discontinued I use it when I want good luck when heading out. It's my special sauce cause I know no one is wearing it.”
4/5“I think the ADG Parfum is a stronger, deeper version of what I remember my first bottle of the EDT back in the 90s. I also really like Profondo EDP a little better than the EDT.”
4/5“I love Profondo Parfum! Your description is on point. I find Profondo EDP to be a little too generic but the Parfum has a bit of funky sea-weediness to it that I really enjoy. Smells like a breezy day at the beach when you're in an area of the beach where you get all the seafood/algae smell floating in the air. I personally love that smell but I can see why some may find if off putting. ADG is my favorite DNA of all time, always puts me in a great mood when I wear any of them.”
4/5“I have the new EDP, like it a lot. I think every collection needs an ADG of your preference”
4/5“Elixir was something that smelled nice but didn't keep. I have Profumo and Profondo EDT, and Absolu that's all I need in the ADG line”
